An Nguyen is an artist, educator, and community builder whose work blends vibrant acrylic painting with a passion for creative engagement.
Her contemporary style is defined by fluid lines, rhythmic movement, and dynamic colour palettes that echo the cadence of music. Through this fusion of visual art and musical sensibility, she transforms everyday moments into expressive reflections of culture, sound, and urban life. Influences of jazz and modern architecture often weave through her compositions, creating pieces that feel both energetic and introspective.
Born in Vietnam and arriving in Canada as part of the country’s post–Vietnam War refugee response, An brings a lived experience of resilience and cultural identity to her practice. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo, and her work has since appeared in galleries, public spaces, and music album artwork across Canada and beyond.
Her recent solo exhibition, Fortune, explored themes of belonging, celebration, and the reframing of traditional Asian customs and stereotypes. An continues to create art that highlights the beauty of music, travel, and the richness of Asian culture—inviting viewers into colourful narratives shaped by movement, memory, and community.
