My works are minimalist, abstracted and created spontaneously. I enjoy experimenting with colour, texture and design, as well as new painting techniques.' |
Andrea is a visual artist who primarily paints in watercolour, although does enjoy painting in a variety of mediums. Andrea is an active member of the art community and has been for approximately fifteen years. Andrea has been under the guidance and mentorship of Ottawa artist Ann Gruchy, at her studio in Kars ON since 2010.
In recent years, Andrea has experimented and developed a simple technique that allows her to paint large-scale watercolours. Her process includes stretching watercolour paper onto wood panels before painting. The final works are varnished. This allows the painting to be displayed without the use of glass. By taking various workshops and classes over the last decade or two, Andrea has embraced the world of abstract and loose non-representational imagery, as demonstrated in her work. Although a great deal of Andrea’s work is floral in nature, they are painted in an abstract style, while using negative-space to feature light in her works. 'I am moved and inspired by colour, light and music. My love for colouring outside the lines is also reflected in my work.' |
