CARLETON PLACE RIVERFRONT ARTSCAPE

The Carleton Place Gallery is thrilled to invite you to participate in our exciting summer event, Carleton Place Riverfront Artscape.
Date: Saturday, August 16, Rain or Shine
Location: River walkway on Bridge St., Carleton Place (north side of the Bridge beside the Carleton Place Gallery). This is called Sinclair Square and displays a large stone wall with a war monument on it.
Application Deadline: Tuesday June 3. Confirmation will be emailed by Friday, June 6. EXTENDED AND TAKING A WAIT LIST
Time: Set up 7:30 – 10:30 am. Show starts at 10:30 am and closes at 5 pm.
Fee: $100 + HST made payable by e-transfer to the Carleton Place Gallery by Tuesday, June 10. [email protected] (The fees will help to offset the cost of advertisements, music and a sign, insurance, etc.)
General Information
This will be the very first outdoor art show in Carleton Place, with plans to make this an annual event and expand to other events. 
There is room for approximately 30 tents this year, with a few food vendors and live music on site.
Note:
  • As a Carleton Place Gallery initiative, the gallery will be the central location for information, payment, promotion, etc. Although this is a gallery initiative, all Ottawa-area artists are invited to participate. 
  • This is a fine art show geared to art lovers, and is NOT an arts and craft show.
  • Artists are responsible for their own insurance coverage and that the Carleton Place Gallery, the Downtown Carleton Place BIA nor the Town of Carleton Place are not responsible for any injury or damage sustained during the Riverfront Artscape. Suggestion for an insurance quote is DUUO www.duo.ca Coverage costs less than $20 for the day.
NOTE: Acceptance letters and Payment: Acceptance letters will be sent by Friday, June 6. Fees are payable after you receive your acceptance letter and by Tuesday, June 10. 50% refund if cancelled before Tuesday, July 1. No refund after July 1 except under special circumstances. Artists are accepted relative to artistic merit, originality, diversity, professionalism, integrity and craftmanship of the art.

Criteria:
  • One-of-a-kind artwork
  • All artwork must be of top-quality fine art and artisans, and not crafty.
  • Affordable Fine Art! Please do not bring anything that you would not put into the gallery.
  • Artwork shall not exploit the bodies of men, women, children solely for the purpose of attracting attention
  • Artwork/Displays shall not reinforce negative stereotypes.
  • Artwork shall not promote the hatred or discrimination of any group.
  • Art will not be political or exclusively religious (they must not advocate a specific political or religious point of view, or a particular stance on any issue.
  • Any religious reference must be in the context of a cultural event.
What to Bring: Artists must bring their own tent, grids, tables, food and snacks etc. All tents MUST be weighted and pegged down so they don’t blow into the river. The ground is not level so bring wood slabs to level your tent and grids.
​Additional Information:
  • Access to the park is via Water St. (behind the gallery). Free parking is available here as well.
  • Participants will be assigned their spaces, which will be organized to create a diverse and interesting walk-through by visitors. Please do not switch with anyone without asking.
  • As an exhibiting artist, you or an assistant are required to be in your space between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Set up can begin at 7:30 am. Do not take down before 5 pm.
  • The art event will take place rain or shine, so please bring protection from the elements. No refunds will be given (unless we have to cancel due to a tornado.)
  • Artists are responsible for all sales transactions.
  • Washrooms for artists only can be found inside the gallery.
