I was born in Ottawa as the youngest of three children. My parents, Polish immigrants, instilled strong values and perspectives about the world and encouraged us to explore new ideas; be creative. Being part of an entrepreneurial family, with new projects constantly on the go, I have an endless supply of fuel for my creative expression.
After high school, I studied interior design and went on to be the principle in my own commercial design business and at the 25 year mark I decided to jump ship and follow the path of a lifelong passion… creating art just for me. I dove into workshops, connected with an inspiring artistic community, joined a studio collective in Ottawa and felt I had finally landed in the place I was always meant to be. I switch between acrylic and encaustic mixed media as inspiration guides me. When I really feel like getting my hands dirty, mixed media sculptural projects support the work I create on the canvas. My paintings are mostly informed by my fascination and wonderment found in the “less obvious” places; I push myself to seek beauty in the commonplace and the ordinary. Inspired by the delicate balance between tension and harmony, I share my interpretation of things and places that impact me; a snapshot in time and the marks left behind.
