Diane was born in Ottawa as the youngest of three children. 'My parents, Polish immigrants, instilled strong values and perspectives about the world and encouraged us to explore new ideas; be creative. Being part of an entrepreneurial family, with new projects constantly on the go, I have an endless supply of fuel for my creative expression. '
After high school, Diane studied interior design and went on to be the principle in her own commercial design business and at the 25 year mark decided to jump ship and follow the path of a lifelong passion… creating art just for herself. Diane dove into workshops, connected with an inspiring artistic community, joined a studio collective in Ottawa and felt 'I had finally landed in the place I was always meant to be.' 'I switch between acrylic and encaustic mixed media as inspiration guides me. When I really feel like getting my hands dirty, mixed media sculptural projects support the work I create on the canvas. My paintings are mostly informed by my fascination and wonderment found in the “less obvious” places; I push myself to seek beauty in the commonplace and the ordinary. Inspired by the delicate balance between tension and harmony, I share my interpretation of things and places that impact me; a snapshot in time and the marks left behind.'
