Botanical Watercolours for Beginners
Join illustrator Sandra Mejia for a fun watercolour workshop. In this two-session class, you’ll learn basic techniques for painting leaves and flowers.
What You’ll Learn:
• Basic watercolor techniques (water control, brush precision, wet on wet and wet on dry).
• Different types of paints, pigments and papers.
• Mixing techniques
• Adding details
What You’ll Go Home With:
• A set of mini botanical paintings: Leaves and flowers
• The understanding of how watercolour works
• The confidence to tackle your own projects
Dates: Wednesday, June 3rd and 10th, 2025
Location: CP Gallery, Carleton Place, ON.
Cost: $155 + HST
What to Bring:
• 3 sheets of watercolour paper (cold press) - Approximately 8” x 10” or smaller.
• Watercolor round brush: Size 6 or 4
• Watercolor liner brush Size 0 or a round brush size 0
• Pencil and eraser
• Watercolor paints: Any that you have will do. In pans or tubes. If you’re buying individual colors, my preferred ones to mix are: yellow, red, blue, burnt Sienna, and a Quinacridone Rose or pink.
• Mixing palette
• Water cup
