Kim Chase is a local painter who is most recognized for her wildlife and portrait work. Although she has dabbled in art her whole life, she only got serious 5 years ago and made it a full-time career. She is self-taught,but has been mentored by master artists such as Mark Heine, Garin Baker, Scott Breton, and Robert Caldwell. Nature and our spiritual connection to all that it embodies has an impact on Kim. By depicting these relationships in her art, she can express our innate links with wildlife and how, through evolution, we have lost our connection. Kim wants her paintings to bring viewers back to a grounding point that brings awareness to our natural surroundings and lure you into her world, her mind and leave you with a sense of calm or excitement to remember and come back to.
In this series, I explore the delicate and awe-inspiring world of birds, capturing their unique beauty and significance within our natural environment. Each painting celebrates the diversity of avian life, from the humble songbirds that fill our mornings with melody to the majestic eagles that symbolize power and freedom. Through careful attention to detail, color, and form, I aim to convey not just their physical beauty, but also their vital role in the ecosystems they inhabit. This work is a tribute to the grace and resilience of these creatures, inviting viewers to appreciate their presence and the delicate balance of the world they help sustain.
“We are so intertwined with everything on this planet, and we forget our roots and connections to our surroundings. Nature is a tapestry interwoven within our souls that I celebrate in my art.”
