Roy Brash is a Canadian figurative and contemporary acrylic painter. A native of Pembroke, Ontario, he now resides in Ottawa where he has a studio. Roy grew up by the Ottawa River. His love of nature had a major impact on his art and his later depictions of animals, landscapes and water scenes. He admires in particular the power and beauty of water. Vivid colors and design are important to him and he tries to use them to express mood and motion. Roy has been professionally painting for more than 17 years. His paintings have been featured in many art shows and galleries and he won many awards. His works now hang in private and corporate collections throughout Quebec, Ontario and Europe. "I lived most of my life on the banks of the Ottawa River, where I grew up. My art is therefore inspired by my Ottawa Valley childhood, with the river as my favourite playground. My paintings are therefore illustrations of my Ottawa Valley memories, including my time spent at my grandparents’ farm and the family cottage at Golden Lake. My artworks also show the evocative sceneries I marvelled at while travelling by boat or car in Atlantic Canada or overseas." "I make art because it fulfills a creative need in myself. I enjoy particularly its meditative side. I perceive nature as perfect and feel humble when trying to replicate its beauty on canvas. "
